Select the required pump design

1) Pump selection:

At first, by referring to the overlap curve of centrifugal pumps, we will have two choices with these specifications:

a. Pump 315-65, 1450 rpm

b. Pump 50-160 rpm 2900

According to the physical laws, we find that pumps at high speeds have more severe depreciations than when working at low speeds, and if the pump is working continuously, we must use the A pump (315-65).

2) Determination of propeller diameter:

We refer to the hydraulic characteristic curve of centrifugal pump 65-315 at 1450 rpm. On the curve, he found the intersection point of 50 cubic meters per hour and the height of 29 meters, and the first curve above this point, which is related to the propeller with 310 blade, is:

3) Pump efficiency:

The efficiency of the pump in this example is about 65.2%.

4) Choosing an electric motor:

To choose the electric motor, the end of the power curve is taken into consideration and the load of the propeller is 310 and we reach the number of 8.2 KW. Therefore, we choose the correct performance of the electric motor of 11 kW, 1450 rpm.
